(San Diego CA) July 7–The staffers at CMT are like the fun family few of us grow up with. We have a blast reviewing the hundreds of CD’s and promotions that come our way every month. On rare occasions we find a sound that stands out; a new band with a refreshing sound. Kessler is our latest find.
With a Fall Out Boy flavor, Kessler should make their mark on contemporary Christian music in a huge way. Their first album coming out on July 8th is called, “I Know Your Voice.” It includes eleven songs such as, Tear me Down, Run Away, and Get it Away. Kessler is a great find; check them out at your local CCM retail store.
Kessler members include Stephen Tucker - vocals and guitar, Devin Reynolds - guitar, Jonathan Ogle - drums, Chris Mitchell - bass, and Mike Mitchell - vocals. They are all originally from Dallas.
Starting out with their songs on Myspace they soon realized that that was not enough to spread their sound. Finally they landed a gig with label company; YMA records. Jonathan Ogle says, “We’ve been writing this record our whole lives.”
The band worked with producer, Jim Wirt on their debut album. Lead vocalist, Mike Mitchell says that Wirt “did a phenomenal job.” Most of you might agree with Mitchell. This band produces loud music with even louder words. In their new song, “Outside Your Window,” they talk about how there are a million ways that God can stay in your life, and the closer He gets to you the harder it is for Him to stay, but He can’t walk away. Kinda clicks true; right?
Kessler is a truly inspirational band. They’ve worked hard to get where they are today. With their album, and many fans, we can tell that this band is going to soar in coming years.
