Ironman Triathlonfor Charity
San Diego, Ca.- August 16, 2006...Delirious drummer Stew Smith (buried behind drums in picture) joins the Ironman Triathlon. This is following his role in the new Christian Music rock group CD/DVD by Delirious, “Now Is The Time: Live At Willow Creek, which will be released October 17th.
“I suppose we're used to traveling quite a long way in a day. So in some ways the 20th of August this year is no big deal; I'll be covering about 140 miles. The only difference is that it’s my legs alone that are going to be doing the carrying. This is my first Ironman Triathlon, and I'll be in Sherbourne, Dorset for the 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and full 26.2 mile marathon,” says Stew.
“How do I feel? Scared. Very scared.
But there's a bigger picture that I've got in mind... I want to raise money to help two amazing charities I know:
Links international - They work to empower others to achieve their own destiny. Primary Health Care and Micro-enterprise Development are just two of the ways that are having a huge impact.
The Wire - A local charity that provides practical, creative and accessible activities for children, young people and families in Littlehampton, UK. These two charities are great examples of people making a difference in the lives of those who need it.
I've attached a flyer with further details of what I'm doing, which also gives you the opportunity to join me in helping support these great charities and to help give a whole bunch of kids a touch more hope in their lives.”
