The thing I appreciate most about Alan Jackson is that he is Alan Jackson. He has had some tremendous country hits; “Where Were You” and “Remember When” are some of my favorites.

His latest CD release “Precious Memories” is a collection of Christian Praise songs, most of which are traditional sitting in the sanctuary at Church type praise songs. If these songs were delivered by anyone else, most recording producers would pass on the project. Let me qualify this; it wouldn’t be a best bet for commercial success, but with Alan’s recognizable voice “Precious Memories” is currently number one on Billboards Gospel/Christian chart.

Our readership at Christian Music Times is largely 13 years old through college age. Most of our readers are into contemporary Christian music (rock, urban, punk, metal, etc.). I chose to write this review on Alan Jackson’s latest effort, because I wanted to honor a pretty good American. I just like people who give back. His song “Where Were You” after 911 put him in this category for me.

I hope to interview Mr. Jackson one on one some day. It will probably be a situation I will have to arrange myself, because I’m pretty sure my boss is going to keep me busy with rock n roll (which is great by the way!).

I tip my hat to Alan. I am praying right now that his new CD becomes a huge commercial success. Give it a listen; I believe you will appreciate those good old songs that you have sung many times in Church. You’ll just have your good buddy Alan singing them right next to you.
